Teekning is a term that is not widely recognized as a distinct concept in standard reference works. In many contexts it appears to be a misspelling or a typographical variant of teckning, the Swedish word for drawing or sketch. The standard Swedish noun teckning is derived from the verb teckna, meaning to draw, and it denotes both a drawing produced by hand and the act of drawing.

In other Germanic languages, related words exist with different spellings, such as tekening in Dutch or tegning in Norwegian and Danish; teekning is not the conventional form in those languages and would typically be considered incorrect in formal writing. Consequently, teekning is mainly encountered in texts where orthography is uncertain, in OCR scans, or in informal usage.

Meaning and usage: When used in Swedish, the intended word is almost certainly teckning; as such, teekning carries the same sense as drawing, sketch, or illustration, but as a nonstandard variant it should be corrected in edited texts. The term teckning also appears in contexts such as art education, where instructors refer to teckningar (plural) and teckning (singular) as genres or media.
