Sähkövarauksilla refers to electric charges in Finnish. Electric charge is a fundamental property of matter that causes it to experience a force when placed in an electromagnetic field. There are two types of electric charge: positive and negative. Like charges repel each other, while opposite charges attract. The conservation of charge states that electric charge can neither be created nor destroyed, only transferred from one object to another or rearranged within a system. The SI unit of electric charge is the coulomb, symbolized by C. One coulomb is equivalent to the charge of approximately 6.24 x 10^18 electrons.
