széndioxidos
Széndioxidos is the Hungarian term for carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is a chemical compound with the formula CO2. It is a colorless gas with a faint but sharp odor. It is naturally present in the Earth's atmosphere as a trace gas. The concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is currently around 0.04%. Carbon dioxide is produced by many processes, both natural and artificial. Natural sources include the respiration of living organisms, volcanic eruptions, and the decomposition of organic matter. Artificial sources include the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas, as well as industrial processes like cement production. Carbon dioxide plays a crucial role in the Earth's carbon cycle. It is absorbed by plants during photosynthesis, which converts it into organic compounds. It is also dissolved in oceans and other bodies of water. As a greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide traps heat in the Earth's atmosphere, contributing to the planet's natural greenhouse effect. However, increased concentrations due to human activities are a major driver of climate change. This increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide leads to global warming and other associated environmental impacts. Carbon dioxide has various industrial uses, including in the production of carbonated beverages, as a refrigerant (dry ice), and in fire extinguishers.
