Szemgolyóra is a Hungarian term that translates to "eyeball" in English. It refers to the spherical organ responsible for vision, located within the socket of the skull. The eyeball is a complex structure composed of various tissues and components that work together to detect light and transmit visual information to the brain.

The outer layer of the eyeball is the sclera, a tough, white fibrous tissue that provides structural support and protection. The front part of the sclera is the cornea, a transparent layer that covers the iris and pupil, playing a crucial role in refracting light. Behind the cornea is the iris, the colored part of the eye, which controls the size of the pupil to regulate the amount of light entering the eye. The pupil is the opening in the center of the iris.

Inside the eyeball are the lens, a transparent biconvex structure that further focuses light onto the retina, and the vitreous humor, a gel-like substance filling the space between the lens and the retina. The retina, located at the back of the eye, contains photoreceptor cells (rods and cones) that convert light into electrical signals. These signals are then transmitted to the brain via the optic nerve, where they are interpreted as images. The proper functioning of each of these parts is essential for clear vision.
