Szarkoplazmatikus refers to the sarcoplasm, the cytoplasm of a muscle cell. This specialized cytoplasm plays a crucial role in muscle contraction and function. Within the sarcoplasm, various organelles and structures are found, including myofibrils, which are the contractile units of muscle, and sarcoplasmic reticulum, a modified form of endoplasmic reticulum that stores and releases calcium ions. The sarcoplasmic reticulum is essential for regulating the calcium concentration within the muscle cell, which directly impacts the process of muscle excitation-contraction coupling.

The sarcoplasm also contains glycogen granules, which serve as a readily available energy source for muscle activity, and mitochondria, responsible for aerobic respiration and ATP production.
