Systembetonade is a Swedish term that translates to "system-cast concrete" or "cast-in-place concrete" in English. It refers to the method of constructing concrete structures by pouring liquid concrete into formwork at the construction site. This is in contrast to precast concrete, where components are manufactured off-site in a factory and then transported for assembly.

The systembetonade method allows for great flexibility in design and shape. It is widely used for foundations, walls, floors, columns, and beams in buildings, as well as for infrastructure projects like bridges, tunnels, and dams. The concrete is typically mixed on-site or delivered ready-mixed to the site. Reinforcement, usually steel bars (rebar), is placed within the formwork before the concrete is poured to provide tensile strength.

Once the concrete hardens and gains sufficient strength, the formwork is removed, revealing the final concrete element. This process requires careful planning, precise execution of formwork, and proper curing of the concrete to achieve the desired structural integrity and finish. While offering design freedom, systembetonade can be more time-consuming and weather-dependent compared to precast construction. It is a fundamental technique in modern construction.
