sydänsepelvaltimojen
Sydänsepelvaltimot, also known as coronary arteries, are the blood vessels responsible for supplying oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle itself. They originate from the aorta, the body's main artery, just after it leaves the left ventricle of the heart. These vital arteries branch out over the surface of the heart, penetrating its muscular wall to nourish the myocardium. The two main coronary arteries are the left main coronary artery and the right coronary artery. The left main artery quickly divides into two major branches: the left anterior descending artery and the left circumflex artery. These arteries and their smaller branches form a complex network that ensures the continuous supply of blood and oxygen essential for the heart's continuous pumping function. Blockages or narrowing within these arteries, often due to atherosclerosis, can lead to serious conditions such as angina and myocardial infarction (heart attack), as the heart muscle is deprived of adequate blood flow.
