Strømmoduser is a term used in some Scandinavian technical texts to describe distinct operating regimes of electrical current within a device or system. The concept focuses on how the current varies over time under different control strategies and load conditions. The word combines strøm (current) and moduser (modes), and the term is more common in Norwegian and Danish engineering literature than in English.

In practice, strømmoduser can refer to several basic modes. Direct-current mode, where the current is essentially steady; alternating-current mode, where current alternates with a defined frequency; pulsed mode, in which current flows in short bursts with defined on/off duty cycles; and switching or regulated modes, such as those used in switched-mode power supplies, LED drivers, and motor controllers, where the current is controlled by rapid switching and duty cycle. Another common distinction is constant-current versus constant-voltage operation, particularly in power electronics and battery charging.

Usage: The concept helps engineers describe and design how devices respond to supply variations, changes in load, or control input signals. Analysis typically uses time-domain waveform observation, circuit modeling, and frequency content via Fourier analysis, as well as simulation in SPICE or equivalent tools.
