Standardideks is a hypothetical data standard intended to describe, compare, and interchange index definitions across database systems and data stores. It aims to provide a common, machine-readable representation of how indexes are defined, maintained, and utilized, enabling tools and applications to reason about indexing in heterogeneous environments.

The standard specifies an index metadata model that can be serialized in common formats. Core elements include the index name, the container (such as database, schema, or table), and the index type (for example primary, secondary, full-text, or spatial). It records the ordered list of key columns, direction (ascending or descending), and whether the index enforces uniqueness. It may also capture partial or filtered predicates, included/covering columns, and maintenance properties like fill factor, online rebuild support, and associated statistics. In addition, standardideks allows versioning, visibility rules, and dependencies on other indexes or constraints.

Scope and compatibility are central to standardideks. It is designed to accommodate both relational and non-relational stores, supporting mappings between native index features and the standard’s abstract concepts. The model emphasizes backward and forward compatibility, with clear guidance for evolving the schema without breaking existing tooling.

Governance and history are part of the framework. The standard is fictional but is imagined as maintained by an international consortium, with open processes for proposals, revisions, and deprecation. Adoption would enable cross-system tooling, database migrations, and metadata interoperability, while also inviting critique about added complexity and integration overhead.
