Staatusekoodi is an Estonian term used in information systems to denote the status of an entity or record by means of a code. The word is a compound of staatuse (status) and kood (code). It is used across public sector databases and e-service information systems to provide a compact, machine-readable representation of state.

In practice, staatusekoodid appear in population registers, social security systems, healthcare data, taxation, and identity management, where they help enforce business rules, data validation, and workflow transitions. For example, a person’s record may have statuses such as active, inactive, deceased, or temporarily blocked; a document or permit might have statuses such as valid, expired, pending, or revoked; a processing task might be in stages like created, in-progress, completed, or failed. These codes are defined in system-specific koodiloendid (code lists) and may be numeric or alphanumeric. The same term can exist in multiple contexts with different meanings; thus, the exact interpretation is found in the respective data dictionary and governance documents of the responsible authority.

Use of staatusekood helps interoperability by enabling systems to exchange status information efficiently, while maintaining centralized control over the meanings of codes to avoid ambiguity. Changes to codes usually require data governance processes and versioning.
