Spiraaligalaksin is a Finnish term that translates to "spiral galaxy" in English. Spiral galaxies are a class of galaxy that, in their simplest form, have a flat, rotating disk with a central bulge and spiral arms that extend outwards. These arms are areas of active star formation, often containing younger, bluer stars and interstellar gas and dust. The central bulge is typically composed of older, redder stars.
