Skrapar, also spelled Skrapari, is a historic and geographic region in south-central Albania. It was a district in the former Albanian administrative system and, since the 2015 local government reform, is part of Berat County. The area is centered around the town of Çorovodë, which served as the district’s administrative center in the past, while today the region is organized into several municipalities within Berat County.

Geographically, Skrapar lies in a mountainous part of the Osum river basin, with the Tomorr mountain range forming a dominant backdrop. The landscape features deep valleys, gorges, and forested areas, contributing to a varied and rugged terrain characteristic of interior Albania.

Notable natural attractions in the Skrapar area include the Bogovë waterfall near the village of Bogovë, the Langarica Canyon, and the broader Osumi Canyon in the area around Çorovodë. These features make the region a draw for hikers, nature lovers, and eco-tourism, especially during milder seasons.

Economically, Skrapar has traditionally relied on agriculture, livestock rearing, and forestry. In recent years, there has been growing interest in developing tourism tied to the region’s natural scenery, cultural heritage, and rural landscapes, alongside ongoing rural development and basic regional services.

The population is predominantly Albanian, with communities that reflect the rural and mountainous character of the area. Skrapar’s cultural heritage includes traditional village life and local customs that persist alongside modern Albanian life in the Berat County framework.
