skjærslager
Skjærslager is a bearing assembly used to support and guide a cutting blade in machinery that performs shearing or slicing operations. The component transfers cutting forces from the blade to the machine frame while allowing the blade to move with minimal friction and accurate alignment. Depending on the design, skjærslager can be a plain bearing or bushing, a rolling-element bearing (such as ball or cylindrical roller bearings) used in rotating blades, or a linear bearing used in sliding knife assemblies.
Applications include metal shears, guillotines, slitting lines, paper and textile cutters, and woodworking saw- and knife-cutting
Key design considerations include load capacity, stiffness, misalignment tolerance, wear resistance, lubrication, and environmental conditions. Materials
Maintenance involves regular inspection of clearances and wear, lubrication according to the manufacturer's schedule, and replacement
Terminology: skjærslager literally translates to cutting bearing in Norwegian; it is part of the cutting assembly
