sinusolmukkeet
Sinusolmukkeet, also known as sinus nodes or sinoatrial nodes, are small clusters of specialized cells located in the right atrium of the heart. These nodes are the natural pacemakers of the heart, initiating and regulating the electrical impulses that cause the heart to beat. The electrical signals generated by the sinus node spread through the atria, causing them to contract and pump blood into the ventricles. Subsequently, these signals reach the atrioventricular node, which then relays them to the ventricles, causing them to contract and pump blood to the rest of the body. The sinus node typically fires at a rate of 60 to 100 beats per minute, which is the normal resting heart rate for adults. Its function is crucial for maintaining a regular and coordinated heartbeat. Disruptions to the sinus node's activity can lead to various arrhythmias, such as sinus bradycardia (a slow heart rate) or sinus tachycardia (a fast heart rate). The proper functioning of the sinus node ensures efficient blood circulation throughout the body.
