Singlefollicles refers to the individual hair follicles present on the skin of mammals. Each hair follicle is a complex structure responsible for producing and growing a single hair strand. These microscopic organs are embedded in the dermis layer of the skin and are connected to sebaceous glands, which secrete sebum, an oily substance that lubricates the hair and skin.

The growth cycle of a single hair follicle involves several distinct phases: anagen (growth), catagen (transition), and telogen (resting). The duration of the anagen phase varies depending on the location of the follicle and individual genetics, determining the maximum length a hair can grow. Once the anagen phase concludes, the follicle enters a brief catagen phase, after which it rests in the telogen phase. During the telogen phase, the old hair eventually sheds, and a new hair begins to grow from the same follicle.
