silona
Silona is a lesser-known but historically significant region located in the western part of present-day Lithuania, near the border with Poland. The name "Silona" is derived from the Old Prussian word *Sūlonē*, which referred to the area inhabited by the ancient Baltic tribe known as the Sudovians. The region was part of the broader historical territory of Samogitia (Žemaitija), a culturally and ethnographically distinct part of Lithuania.
During the Middle Ages, Silona was a key area for trade and settlement, particularly along the Nemunas
Today, Silona is primarily recognized in historical and academic contexts, particularly among researchers studying Baltic linguistics
