Signobjectinterpretant is a term used to describe the triadic relation at the heart of Charles S. Peirce's theory of semiotics. In Peirce's model, a sign, an object, and an interpretant stand in a dynamic, interpretive connection rather than a simple one-way mapping. The sign (or representamen) communicates information; the object is that which the sign refers to; the interpretant is the effect of the sign on an observer's thought, leading to further interpretation.
