Sejtípusok refers to the different kinds of cells that make up living organisms. All organisms, from simple bacteria to complex multicellular animals and plants, are composed of cells. These cells are not all the same; they exhibit a remarkable diversity in structure and function, reflecting their specialized roles within an organism.

Broadly, cells can be classified into two main categories: prokaryotic and eukaryotic. Prokaryotic cells are simpler and lack a true nucleus and membrane-bound organelles. Bacteria and archaea are examples of prokaryotic organisms. Eukaryotic cells, on the other hand, are more complex, possessing a defined nucleus that encloses the genetic material, as well as various specialized organelles such as mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and Golgi apparatus. Plants, animals, fungi, and protists are all composed of eukaryotic cells.

Within eukaryotes, there are further specialized sejtípusok. In multicellular organisms, cells differentiate to perform specific functions. For instance, in animals, muscle cells are specialized for contraction, nerve cells for transmitting electrical signals, and red blood cells for oxygen transport. Plant cells include features like cell walls and chloroplasts, which are not found in animal cells, and exhibit further specialization into root cells, leaf cells, and stem cells, among others. This cellular diversity is fundamental to the complexity and functionality of life.
