Rosinatuotannon refers to the industrial production of rosin, a solid form of resin obtained from pines and other coniferous trees, primarily from the oleoresin of living trees. This oleoresin is a viscous substance that oozes from the tree when it is wounded. The process typically begins with the tapping of pine trees, where bark incisions are made to encourage the flow of oleoresin. This raw oleoresin, a mixture of resin acids and volatile terpenes, is then collected.

The collected oleoresin undergoes a process of steam distillation. This distillation separates the volatile components, primarily turpentine, from the non-volatile resin acids. The turpentine, a valuable byproduct, is used as a solvent and in the production of fragrances and other chemicals. The remaining residue after distillation is the crude rosin.

Crude rosin is then further refined through processes like filtration and further distillation or melting to remove impurities and achieve the desired consistency and purity. The final product, rosin, is a brittle, translucent solid that is amber to yellowish in color.
