The rigid rotor model is a simplified representation used in aerodynamics and rotorcraft engineering. It treats the rotor blades as infinitely stiff, meaning they do not bend or flex under aerodynamic and inertial loads. These factors, particularly blade flexibility, can have a substantial impact on rotor performance, stability, and vibratory loads. More advanced models, such as the tilting rotor model or comprehensive aeroelastic models, are necessary to capture these effects accurately.
