Reaktioaineet, a Finnish term that translates to "reactants" in English, refers to the substances that are consumed during a chemical reaction. In any chemical transformation, reactants are the starting materials that undergo a change to form new substances, known as products. The fundamental principle governing this process is the law of conservation of mass, which states that matter cannot be created or destroyed in a chemical reaction; it can only be rearranged. Therefore, the total mass of the reactants must equal the total mass of the products.
