Rauhasekrektion refers to the secretion of rough endoplasmic reticulum. This organelle is a network of membranes found throughout the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells. Its primary role is the synthesis, folding, modification, and transport of proteins, particularly those destined for secretion, insertion into membranes, or delivery to other organelles. Rauhasekrektion is a crucial process in the production of many essential biological molecules.

The rough endoplasmic reticulum is characterized by the presence of ribosomes attached to its surface, giving it a "rough" appearance under an electron microscope. These ribosomes are responsible for translating messenger RNA (mRNA) into polypeptide chains. As a polypeptide chain is synthesized, it is threaded into the lumen of the ER, where it undergoes folding into its correct three-dimensional structure. Chaperone proteins within the ER assist in this folding process and can also identify and target misfolded proteins for degradation.

Further modifications, such as glycosylation (the addition of sugar molecules), also occur within the ER. Once proteins are properly folded and modified, they are packaged into transport vesicles that bud off from the ER. These vesicles then move to the Golgi apparatus for further processing and sorting, or directly to their final destinations within or outside the cell.
