Rahvuspärand is Estonian for the heritage of a people or nation, comprising both tangible and intangible elements that are transmitted from one generation to the next. It encompasses historic monuments and landscapes, archives, traditional crafts and artifacts, but also songs, stories, rituals, recipes, dialects, and know-how that shape everyday life and collective memory.

Tangible heritage includes buildings, archaeological sites, monuments, rural landscapes, and culturally significant objects. Intangible heritage covers oral tradition, performing arts, music and dance, crafts, culinary traditions, festive rituals, customary knowledge, and language varieties that reflect a community's identity and history.

Preservation and promotion of rahvuspärand occur through public policy, legal protection, and institutions such as museums, archives, libraries, and research centers, as well as education and community initiatives. National and local authorities, alongside cultural organizations and researchers, document and safeguard materials, revive traditional practices, and support living transmission across generations. International frameworks, notably UNESCO's conventions on safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, also guide efforts to recognize and protect elements of rahvuspärand.

The concept is central to national identity, cultural policy, and sustainable development. It informs education, tourism, creative industries, and intercultural dialogue. Ongoing challenges include urbanization, globalization, language and dialect endangerment, and the need to adapt traditions to contemporary life while maintaining authenticity and inclusivity. A dynamic rahvuspärand rests on inclusive participation, intergenerational transmission, and responsible stewardship.
