Radiansin is a term used informally to denote the sine of an angle when the angle is measured in radians. In formal mathematics, the sine function is defined for real numbers representing angle measures, and by convention the input is interpreted in radians. Therefore radiansin(x) is defined as sin(x) for real x with x in radians.

The function radiansin has a range of [-1, 1] and a period of 2π. Its zeros occur at x = nπ for integers n. It is odd, meaning radiansin(-x) = -radiansin(x). The graph of radiansin aligns with the standard sine wave, scaled and shifted only by the radian interpretation of the input.

In practice, most mathematical software libraries implement the sine function with radian input. If an angle is given in degrees, it must be converted to radians before applying the sine operation: radians = degrees × π / 180, and then radiansin(radians) is computed. For example, radiansin(π/6) equals sin(π/6) = 1/2, and radiansin(90 degrees) equals sin(π/2) = 1 after conversion.

Relationship to other units is central: converting between degrees and radians is necessary when mixing unit systems. While radians are the natural unit for measuring angles in many theoretical contexts, degrees are sometimes used in practical applications. Distinguishing the unit of the input ensures correct evaluation of the sine function.
