qarnis

Qornis, also known as Qarnis, is an archeological site located in the Turkish region of southeastern Anatolia. The site, which dates back to the ancient times, is believed to have been settled during the Neolithic period, around 10,000 years ago. The settlement is situated at the banks of the Kalesi River, approximately 1,500 meters above sea level.

Excavations at the site have revealed a significant number of settlements, alongside the ruins of temples, churches, and other architectural structures. The presence of Chalcolithic material culture, such as the use of ceramics, stone tools, and weapons, provides valuable insight into the lives of the inhabitants of Qornis during that period.

Three distinct periods of occupation have been identified at the site: first, the Middle Chalcolithic period; second, the Late Chalcolithic period; and finally, the Eneolithic period. These periods showcase various stages in the development of the settlement, as the inhabitants adapted to changed environmental and cultural conditions.

Given the significance of the site as a window into the lives of one of the world's earliest settled communities, the region's team of researchers and archaeologists are working diligently to carry out a comprehensive study of the settlements, engaging in geological studies, publishing findings, and dividing responsibilities among the solutions creatively.
