përemrave

Përemra is the Albanian word for pronouns. Pronouns are words that stand in for nouns or noun phrases. They help avoid repetition and make sentences flow more smoothly. In Albanian, like in many other languages, pronouns change form depending on their grammatical function in a sentence.

There are several types of pronouns in Albanian. Personal pronouns refer to specific people or things. These include nominative forms like unë (I), ti (you, singular), ai (he), ajo (she), ne (we), ju (you, plural), and ata/ato (they). They also have accusative and dative forms. For instance, the accusative form of unë is mua, and the dative form is mua.

Demonstrative pronouns, such as ky (this, masculine), kjo (this, feminine), ai (that, masculine), and ajo (that, feminine), are used to point to specific nouns. These also change in gender and number. Interrogative pronouns, like kush (who) and çfarë (what), are used to ask questions. Relative pronouns, such as i cili (who/which, masculine), e cila (who/which, feminine), and që (who/which/that), are used to introduce relative clauses. Possessive pronouns indicate ownership, like imi (mine, masculine), imja (mine, feminine), yt (yours, masculine), etc. Reflexive pronouns, such as veten (oneself), are used when the subject and object of a verb are the same. Understanding these different categories and their declensions is crucial for constructing grammatically correct Albanian sentences.
