protonisuihkulla

Protonisuihkulla is a type of point-defense deployment system used by the Finnish Navy. It is a adaptation of the standard 4K22 "Falken" point-defense system, and it is designed to counter high-speed and low-flying aerial targets.

The system consists of a single radar unit, a 4K22 fire control unit, and four automatic twin 23mm 4K33 missiles launchers. Each launcher can fire 8 missiles, for a total of 32 missiles available to counter enemy threats. The system is designed to engage targets as low as 20 meters above the surface of the water.

The 4K22 component of the system uses Doppler radar to track targets, providing accurate data for the fire control unit to calculate the trajectories of the incoming missiles. The firing solution is calculated in real-time, allowing the system to adapt to changing target conditions.

Protonisuihkulla has a high kill probability against fast and agile targets, and it can engage multiple targets simultaneously. Its operational range is around 2.5 kilometers. In terms of effectiveness, Protonisuihkulla has been observed to have a significant reduced the lethality of enemy forces when used in combat.

The system has seen action in the Finnish Navy's B1-class fast attack craft, as well as in converted landing ship helicopter vessels. While the full capabilities, operational and technical specifics of the system are not yet available, it is known to provide air defense against fast and agile threats.
