Propositionals, also known as propositional logic or sentential logic, is a fundamental branch of logic that studies declarative sentences, also called propositions, and their logical connections. A proposition is a statement that can be definitively classified as either true or false. For example, "The sky is blue" is a proposition, while "What time is it?" is not.

Propositional logic deals with how these simple propositions can be combined using logical connectives to form more complex propositions. The most common connectives include: negation (not), conjunction (and), disjunction (or), implication (if...then), and biconditional (if and only if). Each connective has a precise truth condition that determines the truth value of the compound proposition based on the truth values of its constituent propositions.

The primary goal of propositional logic is to analyze the validity of arguments. An argument is considered valid if, whenever all the premises are true, the conclusion must also be true. Propositional logic provides tools such as truth tables and formal deduction systems to systematically check the validity of arguments. It is a crucial foundation for many areas of mathematics, computer science, philosophy, and linguistics, serving as a basis for reasoning and formalizing complex ideas.
