promyélocytaire
Promyélocytaire refers to a developmental stage in the production of granulocytes, a type of white blood cell. It is a stage that follows the myeloblast and precedes the myelocyte. During this phase, the cell undergoes significant changes in preparation for becoming a mature granulocyte. The nucleus, which is large and round in the myeloblast, begins to condense and may become eccentric in the promyelocyte. The cytoplasm starts to develop specific granules, which are characteristic of the type of granulocyte the cell will eventually become. These granules are crucial for the cell's function in the immune system, as they contain enzymes and other substances that help fight infection. The promyelocyte stage is a relatively short but critical period in hematopoiesis, the process of blood cell formation. Aberrations in promyelocyte development can be indicative of certain hematological disorders.
