Projektorne refers to a broad category of devices designed to project an image or video onto a surface, typically a screen or wall. These devices are widely used in various settings, including home entertainment, education, business presentations, and cinematic experiences. The core principle behind a projector involves a light source, a method of modulating that light to form an image, and a lens system to focus and project the image.

Early projectors, such as magic lanterns, used simple illuminated slides. Modern projectors employ sophisticated technologies. Digital Light Processing (DLP) projectors utilize a spinning color wheel and a chip containing millions of microscopic mirrors. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) projectors, on the other hand, use three liquid crystal panels, one for each primary color (red, green, and blue), to create the image. LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) technology combines aspects of both DLP and LCD.

Key specifications for projectors include resolution, which determines the sharpness and detail of the projected image (e.g., 1080p, 4K), brightness, measured in lumens, which indicates how well the projector can overcome ambient light, and contrast ratio, defining the difference between the brightest and darkest parts of an image. Throw ratio is another important factor, indicating the distance from the projector to the screen relative to the width of the image. Projectors come in various form factors, from portable pico projectors to large, high-performance installation models.
