Polylysine is a polymer of the amino acid lysine. It can be synthesized chemically or produced biologically by microorganisms. There are several forms of polylysine, most notably alpha-polylysine and epsilon-polylysine. Alpha-polylysine is a synthetic polymer and is not naturally occurring.
