Perspektiven is the plural form of Perspektive in German and denotes points of view, angles of vision, or sets of future prospects across different domains. In everyday language it is common to speak of Perspektiven to refer to possible future developments, plans, or opportunities.

In the visual arts, Perspektive refers to techniques for representing three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface. The most influential approach is linear perspective, which uses a horizon line, vanishing points and converging lines to create depth. One-point, two-point and multi-point perspectives describe how objects recede in space. Atmospheric perspective uses color and clarity to imply distance. Renaissance artists such as Filippo Brunelleschi and Leon Battista Alberti helped systematize these methods, which later evolved into more complex formalisms.

In philosophy, social science and cognitive studies, perspective signifies a standpoint or frame of reference from which a subject is observed or analyzed. This includes the researcher’s methodological stance, as well as culturally or historically conditioned viewpoints. Perspective-taking, or the ability to adopt another viewpoint, is a central concept in ethics, communication and conflict resolution.

The term also appears in business and media to discuss outlooks, e.g., economic perspectives or strategic perspectives. Across contexts, Perspektiven highlight that reality can be understood from multiple angles, and that shifting perspective can alter interpretation and decision-making.
