Palamisreaktiossa is a Finnish word that refers to a type of secondary chemical reaction that occurs in the digestive system. This reaction is caused by the interaction between pancreatic and intestinal secretions and a food component called palmitic acid.

When palmitic acid comes into contact with the pancreatic and intestinal fluids, it undergoes an intermediate phase of hydrolysis, resulting in the formation of palmitate anions and fatty acid intermediates. These anions then combine with available calcium ions to form insoluble calcium palmitate, which precipitates in the intestines. This process leads to the presentation of palmitate anions within the intestinal lumen, where they can be recognized by carrier proteins and absorbed into the bloodstream.

Palamisreaktiossa has been specifically linked to the presence of rancid or fatty food items in an individual's diet. The higher the concentration of free fatty acids and monoglycerides in these foods, the greater the potential for palmitisreaktion to occur.
