Orrüregé is a term that refers to the nasal cavity. It is the primary passageway for air to enter and exit the respiratory system during breathing. The nasal cavity is located within the skull, superior to the oral cavity and anterior to the pharynx. It is divided into two passages by the nasal septum, a wall of cartilage and bone.

Lined with a mucous membrane, the nasal cavity plays a crucial role in conditioning inhaled air. The mucus traps dust, pollen, and other airborne particles, preventing them from reaching the lungs. Tiny hair-like structures called cilia beat rhythmically, moving the mucus and trapped debris towards the pharynx to be swallowed or expelled. This filtering action helps protect the respiratory system from infection and irritation.

The nasal cavity also warms and humidifies the inhaled air before it passes into the lungs. Blood vessels within the mucous membrane release heat to warm the air, and the moisture evaporates from the mucus to humidify it. This process is important for preventing damage to the delicate tissues of the lungs, especially in cold or dry environments. Furthermore, the nasal cavity contains olfactory receptors responsible for the sense of smell. These receptors, located in the superior part of the nasal cavity, detect odor molecules in the air and send signals to the brain, allowing us to perceive smells.
