Oogreacties, also known as ocular responses, refer to the involuntary or voluntary movements and changes observed in the eyes in response to various stimuli. These reactions are crucial for visual perception, protection, and communication.

A primary example is the pupillary light reflex, where the pupil constricts in bright light to reduce the amount of light entering the eye and dilates in dim light to enhance vision. This reflex is mediated by the autonomic nervous system. Another significant response is the blink reflex, a rapid closing of the eyelids triggered by stimuli such as a sudden puff of air, a foreign object approaching the eye, or even loud noises. This reflex serves to protect the cornea from damage.

Oculomotor responses include saccades, which are rapid, ballistic eye movements that shift the gaze from one point of interest to another. Smooth pursuit eye movements allow the eyes to track a moving object smoothly. Vergence movements are responsible for adjusting the eyes' focus for objects at different distances, ensuring binocular vision and depth perception.

Abnormal oogreacties can be indicative of underlying neurological conditions, eye diseases, or injuries. For instance, nystagmus is an involuntary, repetitive movement of the eyes that can affect vision. Assessing oogreacties is a standard part of ophthalmological and neurological examinations, providing valuable diagnostic information about the health of the visual system and the brain.
