Ohjausväylä, or control bus in English, is a fundamental component within a computer's architecture. It serves as a pathway for signals that manage and coordinate the activities of other computer components. Unlike data buses which carry actual data, or address buses which specify memory locations, the control bus transmits command and status signals. These signals dictate operations such as reading from or writing to memory, initiating or halting processor activity, and managing input/output devices.

The control bus is typically bidirectional, allowing information to flow in both directions. For example, the CPU might send a "read" signal on the control bus to instruct memory to retrieve data. Conversely, a device might send a "ready" signal to indicate it has completed a requested operation. Common control signals include clock signals, reset signals, interrupt requests, and read/write signals. The proper functioning of the control bus is crucial for the synchronized operation of all parts of the system, ensuring that instructions are executed in the correct order and that components communicate effectively.
