Obrony is a Polish term derived from obrona, meaning defense or protection. The word is used to refer to the act of defending or the systems and measures designed to protect people, territory, and interests. In everyday language, obrona can describe defensive actions by individuals, organizations, or states, as well as protective measures in non-military contexts.

In political science and policy, obrona denotes national defense—the coordinated set of military, diplomatic, economic, and administrative measures a country uses to deter aggression, secure borders, and ensure security for citizens and critical infrastructure.
