Občanskoprávní is a Czech adjectival term used to describe matters relating to civil law. It designates the branch of law that governs private legal relationships between natural persons and legal entities, as opposed to criminal or administrative law. In Czech legal literature and statutes, obcanskoprávní právo is usually divided into two main areas: hmotné občanské právo (substantive civil law) and občanské právo procesní (civil procedure). Substantive civil law regulates rights and obligations arising from private relationships, including contracts, property, family law, and inheritance, as well as liability and obligations. Civil procedure governs the conduct of civil-litigation, including how disputes are initiated, proved, and resolved in courts.
The term is used in statutes, court rulings, and academic writing to distinguish private-law relations from
