The fundamental building blocks are cells, which differentiate into specialized tissues such as meristematic tissues responsible for growth, protective dermal tissues, supportive ground tissues, and vascular tissues for transport.

These tissues then combine to form distinct organs. The primary organs of a vascular plant include roots, stems, and leaves. In non-vascular plants like mosses and liverworts, the structures are simpler, lacking true roots, stems, and leaves, with diffusion playing a more significant role in transport.
