For more severe sprains, medical attention may be necessary to assess the extent of the damage and determine the appropriate course of treatment, which might include physiotherapy or, in rare cases, surgery. Prevention of sprains involves strengthening the muscles around joints, maintaining good balance, and using appropriate protective gear during physical activities.
