nkterý

Nkterý is not a standard Czech word. In contemporary writing it is generally regarded as a nonstandard or erroneous form of the determiner někte rý, which means some or certain. The correct spelling in Czech uses diacritics: některý. The appearance of nkterý can result from typographical errors, OCR mistakes, or contexts where diacritics are omitted or misrepresented.

Etymology and related forms: některý belongs to a family of Slavic words meaning “some, certain.” It is cognate with Russian nekotorый and Polish niektóry, all derived from Proto-Slavic roots expressing indefiniteness or an unspecified subset. In Czech, the form ends with -ý to agree with masculine singular nouns, as in některý člověk.

Orthography and usage: Standard Czech orthography requires diacritics, and nkterý is not accepted in formal or widely edited texts. When diacritics are omitted for technical reasons, the common ASCII equivalents are nekterý or nektry in various informal practices, though even these are considered nonstandard. In normal prose, the correct form is několik forms like některý (masculine), některá (feminine), některé (neuter or plural possessive/adjective forms), depending on number and gender.

Examples: Correct usage—některý člověk, některé dny. Nonstandard occurrences such as nkterý člověk should be corrected to the standard form.
