Nasledstvo is a Slavic term that encompasses inheritance, succession, and heritage. In legal contexts in languages such as Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Serbian and Macedonian, nasledstvo denotes the transfer of a deceased person's property, rights and obligations to their successors. The process is called succession and can occur through a will (testament) or, in the absence of a will, by statutory rules (intestate succession).

The estate typically includes real estate, movable property and financial assets, as well as the debts and obligations of the deceased. Heirs may accept or renounce the inheritance; acceptance may be with obligations, or there may be limits on liability. In many jurisdictions there are legitimate shares for close relatives such as spouses and children, with distribution either per capita or by other rules defined by law.

Probate or administration arranges the valuation, formal transfer, and payment of taxes or duties, if applicable. The specifics vary by country and legal tradition.

In a broader sense, nasledstvo also means heritage or legacy bequeathed by past generations. This broader usage covers cultural, artistic, scientific or religious traditions, artifacts and values that a person, family or community leaves to future generations.
