Myosiinireittejä, known in English as myosin pathways, refers to the molecular mechanisms involving myosin motors that are crucial for a wide range of cellular processes. Myosins are a superfamily of motor proteins that interact with actin filaments to generate force and movement. These pathways are essential for muscle contraction, cell migration, intracellular transport of organelles and vesicles, cytokinesis, and maintaining cell shape.

There are over 30 different classes of myosins, each with specialized roles. For instance, myosin II is primarily involved in muscle contraction and the formation of the contractile ring during cell division. Myosin V, on the other hand, is a key player in the transport of cargo, moving vesicles and organelles along actin tracks. Myosin I and VI are involved in membrane trafficking and actin cytoskeleton organization.
