Myeloperoxidase is an enzyme found in the azurophil granules of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell. This reaction is part of the body's defense mechanism against bacterial infections. Hypochlorous acid is a potent antimicrobial agent that can kill or inactivate a wide range of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Myeloperoxidase is also involved in the regulation of inflammatory responses and the resolution of tissue damage.
