Miliknya is a possessive form in Indonesian that means belonging to him, her, or it. It is formed from the noun milik, meaning possession, together with the third-person possessive suffix -nya. The resulting form can function as a determiner in a noun phrase or as a stand-alone pronoun indicating ownership.

In noun phrases, the usual order places the noun first and the possessive afterward. For example, rumah miliknya means “his/her house,” where the house belongs to the person referred to by the suffix -nya. The stand-alone form miliknya can also act as a pronoun meaning “his/her/its own” or “his/hers/its possession,” as in Itu miliknya (“That is his/her/its”).

Miliknya is gender-neutral and used for any third-person possessor. It contrasts with first- and second-person forms such as milikku (my) and milikmu (your). Other related forms include milik kita (our) and milik mereka (their). The suffix -nya can also be used for emphasis as miliknya sendiri to mean “his/her own.”

Usage notes: in formal writing, miliknya is correct and clear. In everyday speech, many speakers prefer using punya to express possession, as in rumahnya punya dia, though this can shift nuance toward a more informal register. Both milik and punya convey ownership, but milik forms are more standard for attributive possession in Indonesian grammar.
