methanoltooil
Methanoltooil refers to a chemical process that converts methanol into higher hydrocarbons, which can then be refined into fuels similar to gasoline or diesel. This process is a type of indirect coal liquefaction or gas-to-liquids technology, where methanol acts as an intermediate chemical. Typically, methanol is first synthesized from syngas (a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen) derived from sources like coal, natural gas, or biomass. The methanol is then converted into hydrocarbons through processes such as the Methanol-to-Gasoline (MTG) or Methanol-to-Olefins (MTO) pathways, followed by oligomerization or other hydrocarbon chain-growth reactions.
The MTG process, developed by Mobil Corporation (now ExxonMobil), uses a zeolite catalyst to directly convert
