Lygmenimis is a constructed language (conlang) developed for use in a science fiction setting. Created by linguist Mara Vallen and first published in 2010, it is presented as the language of the seaborne archipelago nation of Lygmere. The design aims to feel natural and internally consistent, with a documented history, phonology, and evolving vocabulary that can accommodate multiple genres and media.

Its phonology features five vowels and a streamlined consonant inventory designed for ease of pronunciation across speakers. Consonants include p, t, k, m, n, s, l, r, and a glottal stop. Stress is primarily on the penultimate syllable. The writing system, Lygmish, is an alphabet of 24 symbols used for both capital and small letters, with diacritics marking vowel length in educational materials.

Grammar is predominantly an SOV, agglutinative system. Nouns inflect for case and number, including nominative, accusative, genitive, and dative, with plural marked by a suffix. Adjectives normally follow nouns and agree in number. Verbs encode tense, aspect, and mood through a series of suffixes, and tense is indicated by a combination of particle and suffix sequences. Postpositions, rather than prepositions, mark spatial relations.

Location and usage: Lygmenimis is primarily used in fictional texts and fan-created media, with a small but active online community producing grammars, dictionaries, and audio recordings. In-world, it coexists with several regional dialects. Outside fiction, scholars study it as a well-structured example of conlang design rather than a living language.
