Lugemændene was a Danish resistance movement formed during World War II, whose primary goal was to gather and transmit intelligence to the British government. Organized by a series of former intelligence officers and wireless operators, the group operated under the codename "Lugemændene", which translates to "The Spotters" in English.

Established in 1943, Lugemændene's initial purpose was to provide military intelligence to the Allied forces, thereby contributing to the war effort. The group's operatives, recruited from a range of backgrounds, received training in surveillance, communication, and reporting techniques.

Using encrypted radio communications, the group transmitted information about German military movements, fortifications, and other sensitive topics to British intelligence services, which utilized this intelligence to inform military strategy. Their reports played a crucial role in the Allied victory.

Operatives traveled extensively across Denmark, identifying and reporting targets of strategic importance, including German naval bases, airfields, and ammunition dumps. Additionally, they conducted prisoner-of-war interviews and interrogated German personnel.

While their contributions were significant, prior to the invasion of Denmark, Lugemændene's existence was not officially acknowledged, making their contributions difficult to quantify. With the liberation of Denmark, Lugemændene's activities, and the recognition of its achievements, have since become an integral part of Danish history and folklore.
