Loogikatehingud, known in English as logic gates, are fundamental building blocks of digital circuits. They perform basic logical operations on one or more binary inputs to produce a single binary output. The output is determined by a specific logical function. The most common logic gates include AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR, XOR, and XNOR.

An AND gate produces a true (1) output only if all of its inputs are true. A OR gate produces a true output if at least one of its inputs is true. A NOT gate, also known as an inverter, has a single input and produces the opposite output: if the input is true, the output is false, and vice versa. NAND (Not AND) gates produce a false output only when all inputs are true, essentially the inverse of an AND gate. NOR (Not OR) gates produce a true output only when all inputs are false, the inverse of an OR gate. XOR (Exclusive OR) gates produce a true output if an odd number of inputs are true, meaning an odd number of inputs are different from each other. XNOR (Exclusive NOR) gates produce a true output if an even number of inputs are true.

These gates are implemented using electronic components like transistors and are the basis for more complex digital systems, including microprocessors, memory units, and control circuits within computers and other electronic devices. Their operation is governed by Boolean algebra, a mathematical system used to analyze and simplify digital logic.
