Logarítmicas refers to logarithmic functions, a fundamental concept in mathematics. A logarithmic function is the inverse of an exponential function. If y = a^x, then x = log_a(y). This means the logarithm of a number y to a base a is the exponent to which a must be raised to produce y. The base of a logarithm is usually a positive number other than 1. Logarithmic functions have several important properties. They are defined for positive numbers only, and their range is all real numbers. Logarithms have wide-ranging applications in science, engineering, finance, and computer science. They are used to solve exponential equations, simplify complex calculations involving multiplication and division, and model phenomena that grow or decay exponentially. Examples include measuring earthquake intensity on the Richter scale, determining sound intensity in decibels, and calculating population growth rates. The concept of logarithms was independently discovered by John Napier and Jost Bürgi in the early 17th century.
